On 10th November 2025, Ambassador Takeuchi and Mr. Kelly Hikalungu, Head Teacher of Prince Takamado School, signed a grant contract for the “Project for the Rehabilitation of Sanitation and Water Supply of Prince Takamado School in Bauleni Compound, Lusaka Province,” with a total grant of up to 23,393 US dollars under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects. The project is expected to significantly improve the sanitation environment for students by rehabilitating deteriorated facilities at the ablution block and installing solar-powered system for water supply.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Joseph Mwila, Professional Assistant at the Office of the Area Member of Parliament, who represented Honourable Mulambo Haimbe, Area Member of Parliament for Lusaka Central Constituency and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, along with other key stakeholders. In his speech, he emphasized that these interventions demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting the free education policy introduced by the current administration. He also noted that this initiative goes beyond infrastructure improvement—it restores dignity of students by promoting public health within the school and falls under the broader effort of the community to improve the water reticulation system in Bauleni and its surrounding areas.
Ambassador Takeuchi highlighted the importance of clean and functional sanitation facilities in the school environment as it will help students focus on academics, thus promoting lifelong learning opportunities.
